Have you noticed the changes at our VFW Post in Pittsboro? Well, we’d like to tell you about what’s going on there!
A Memorial Committee was formed by the leadership and membership of Joe Wagner VFW Post 7313.
The purpose of the Committee was to establish a way to honor all Veterans. The process began with the Committee establishing a Memorial Park – which is the front grounds of Post 7313. Receiving donations along with the proceeds from the Honor the Veteran Paver campaign, the next steps taken by the committee was to erect the 5 service flags. The flags represent: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.
Also proceeds and donations were used to purchase to repair the existing flagpole and placing two memorial benches to honor two specific Veterans. As donations and proceeds increased those funds were used to procure a monument memorial stone that honors all Veterans.
Post 7313 is planning a dedication ceremony for the monument memorial in May 2017. More details regarding this ceremony to be published.
